M° Ubaldo Fabbri

Artistic director, Vocal coach, Professor of Italian Phonetics of Belcanto

Pianist Ubaldo Fabbri teaches piano accompaniment at the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro, the conservatory where he graduated back in 1978.

Immediately passionate about opera, he divided his activities between piano accompaniment and teaching.

From 1986 to 2002 he collaborated with the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, with Ferrara Musica, and with the Festival delle Nazioni in Città di Castello, and his musical taste and ear were refined by working alongside the leading singers, conductors and directors of that period.

In 1989 he was pianist in the Hungarian TV documentary about and with Luciano Pavarotti.

Parallel experience as a coach with legions of foreign opera students spurred him to develop Italian Phonetics for Belcanto, a new/old approach to the relationship between music and speech seen as a starting point for his work as a score-setter. His system based on phonetics and belcanto has enabled him since 2000 to give about a hundred master classes in the best musical institutions in numerous states in the USA, and in Scotland, England, Belgium, Poland, and Japan.

Since 2004 he has founded and directed, together with his mogilie Aldona Grzesiukiewicz, the Accademia Lirica - phonetica italiana per il Belcanto in Novafeltria to which the Montefeltro Festival is linked: attended by about 2,000 students organized by directors of summer programs from all over the world, his former students, it has already produced in the Ffestival more than 600 events including operas and concerts.

It is also passionately dedicated to the popularization of opera.

In 2021, on his fourth tour to Japan, he concerted and conducted three operas by Nino Rota: I Due Timidi, La Scuola di Guida and La Notte di un Nevrastenico with young but accomplished Japanese singers, at Daiichi Seimei Hall in Tokyo.
